Great location – just a short walk to Havelock MRT station, with food options right downstairs and Tiong Bahru Market within walking distance. The bed and sheets were very comfortable, and towels and toothbrushes were provided, which was a nice touch. The hotel is a bit old, especially the bathroom, which didn’t look very clean due to its age, but overall still acceptable. The front desk staff were also very friendly and allowed us to check in early to leave our luggage.

Don't get it while you can

Wow. This whole place has an air of dying and, accordingly, nothing has been done for its upkeep. Bring your own slippers because you will not want your feet to touch the 100 year old industrial carpet in the room. Whose hair was that in the sink? Not mine. This was an emergency booking as masses of flights were canceled (typhoon in Hong Kong) and rooms were disappearing before my eyes as I tried to book.
On the plus side, the bedding was clean enough, the aircon worked and there was instant coffee in the room. The neighbourhood behind was actually quite cool with art deco style buildings with a cool mix of residential and groovy cafes and local style Chinese food eateries and some higher end restaurants. You would consider living there!
But the elevator was filthy, Hallway paint was peeled and cracking. Lampshades beaten and askew. Everything felt old. The chair in my room had a big split in the fabric. The restaurant downstiars looked to be closed so the whole place had a feel like the buildling was going to be torn down and they couldn't be bothered to invest a dime and were ekeing out a few more bucks to demolition day.
And the wifi? Possibly the worst I've seen ever in a hotel. Shocking, constantly dropping off and slow even when it was connected. Didn't know it could be that bad in the modern era.
No photos. Too depressing to contaminate my phone's memory card.

Old hotel

(1) The air conditioner is very noisy.
(2) house keeping is not done in detail.
(3) There was a smell of cigarette smoke in the bathroom.

Room was showing its age especially where the furniture was concerned with dents & discolouration. There were no face or hand towels which meant that the splashes of water around the sink couldn’t be wiped dry by the user & we also had to use tissue papers to dry our hands. (The hotel’s policy was to have the room cleaned only after every 2 days & we checked out then.)
Staff was ok. Location was great with eating places within walking distance.

The place is too old, lobby photo is the tricky part. Furniture in the room peeling, wallpaper on furniture shifted off. Lots of ants in the room, can’t leave food outside. The fridge not working well. Dust on the wall shows sign of never clean for ages. Curtain and carpet stains, quite disgusting the place. Internet very poor. I have no choice to move out. Have to stay til the end of booking. I chose this place because the photo looks like bright room and clean, plus the location is good. Overall, only location is good for me to go to work.
