Country hospitality at its best

This classic Aussie country hotel was an excellent finish to our quick but interesting stay in this remote opal mining town. The restaurant menu was extensive, and our generous sized meals were delicious. We had a range of seating choices, in the bar or the airy, screened dining room, or out in the huge and heated outdoor courtyard, all weather conditions catered for. I highly recommend both the hotel, and the mine tour, worth the effort.

A hotel to charm

Fantastic friendly place to visit and enjoy a great dinner… cold cold beer… really friendly atmosphere and staff… we stayed at the caravan park but kept going back to the hotel for dinner… I loved the place that much I purchased a shirt for my wife and I… we will be back …

Great place for a meal

The meal here was amazing, sat in the beer garden and the atmosphere and staff were so friendly , had the steak sandwich, best one ever, the value for money was great , would highly recommend the White Cliffs Hotel. Good value for , very friendly staff

Quirky town.

White Cliffs Hotel – we spent a night here as we had always wished to visit the town – we have been to Coober Pedy and Lightning Ridge – the other major opal mining towns. Compared to the other towns – what a disappointment! At least we have seen it now. The White Cliffs Hotel was a good place to stay and the staff excellent. Our room was good, spacious and clean. The bathroom small but functional. The bed very comfortable and a good sleep was had. The hotel bistro worked well and the menu and drinks adequate for such a remote area. Our room lacked tissues, WiFi, tea, and coffee. Breakfast is not part of the deal and we ate back in Wilcannia. The pub itself was good and the sunset amazing – got some great photos. We tried to buy some opal jewellery for family but had a poor experience at one of the outlets – it looked good from the outside and had a café, but we arrived just before they were to hold a tour and were told not to bother waiting as they’d close up after the tour. We went to the other place and bought our opal ring from them – they were far more hospitable and happy to sell the goods. The only good thing about White Cliffs is to know we had been there, would not bother for the distance covered and poor hospitality.
