An unsatisfactory night in Yass.
A very poor room for over $180 per night. The binds were covered in filth and grime, power points overloaded, a broken chair to use at the desk along with what appeared to be mould in the bathroom, power cables scattered

Horrendous.
You'd be better off staying in your car. The place has changed hands and is a dirty, cold, disaster. I don't do reviews; that's how bad it was. I've been waiting for a refund for the non-existent breakfast for some time now. My husband and I stayed here in August 2019 and it was lovely. He died in December 2024 and I came to take some of his ashes to Young where he was born. When I booked, I told the owner the reason for my stay and that I don't drive. I wish I'd stayed at a motel in Young; it would have been cheaper, and with heating. Not until the day I arrived (and I didn't see the text message until entering the hotel as I travelled from Sydney by train with reception out much of the trip) did the owner advise there'd be no breakfast (despite it advertised on the website) as he couldn't "manage it"! He also said. "this is the coldest day of the year"; yet the central heating was almost non-existent and turned off by 9pm. I went to bed without a shower as the bathroom was awful, not clean and I didn't want to get colder than I was, using the threadbare, yellowed towels provided (towels not good enough to donate to wildlife rescue). I couldn't boil water for tea or coffee to get warm as the kettle was filthy (there were also no cups in the room). I doubt the electricals are compliant - there were cheap KMart-style adapters all over the place. The blanket I took from the wardrobe was a crumpled mess, which made me question whether the room had even been cleaned. I was so cold in the morning I went to the guest lounge upstairs but it was no warmer, the fire wasn't lit; 2 other guest had turned on a small oil heater which radiated warmth only if you were sitting on top of it. Like me, they'd stayed before and were shocked at the change - apparently the man now running the place is divorced - seems to expects his guests to subsidise his new life. I'd booked to stay 2 nights. Shortly after arrival I told the owner I couldn't stay. He'd even said when I arrived "It's the coldest day of the year" yet the place was barely heated. After chatting with the other 2 guests in the inhospitable lounge, I called the owner to advise we were freezing. He was away in another town so directed me to turn on an air-conditioning system (in a filthy kitchen) - but it only worked for guest rooms, and was in any case switched to so low it was useless. I actually can't bear to remember anymore. I'm 64, have travelled a lot in Australia and overseas, and can honestly say this is the worst experience I've ever had. I'll next check in with whatever NSW govt body oversees accommodation.

The hotel could do with an update. It’s is very cute and old fashioned, but it has been run down. Bathroom sink has a huge brown running through it. Towel rail was broken and there were dead flies on the window ledges. Door ledges were dirty. The heating is not adequate for a Yass winter. A tiny little dimplex heater to warm a very large room. We checked in around 5 and the heating had not been left on. It took hours before the room had warmed adequately. The electric blanket didn’t seem to work either!!!

The Globe Inn has just 5 rooms. The pictured garden on the Hotel web site is not accessible. It is NOT a B&B as, according to reception, breakfasts have "not been served for about a year". Reception is a phone contact: no real person appeared. All 5 rooms are upstairs (no disabled access). Our room is fitted out as it was about 50 years ago apart from the flat screen TV. No air conditioning. A strip heater was effective in the en suite, but the small column heater in the bedroom (large with high ceiling) was totally ineffective. Many items (jug, TV, electric blanket, bed lamps) were run off extension leads. We would not return to this "Inn".

THEY NO LONGER SERVE BREAKFAST
Pros, lovely spacious bright quiet room & great shower.
Cons, didn't see anyone, room freezing, elec blanket not working, no WiFi or details for emergency or repair contact, no phone numbers answered. Didn't even see anyone at checkout. Very odd!
