Laid back

An unique experience. Rowed on the Nata river. Enjoyed the company. Barefoot in the thicksand, playing with the cats and dogs. Becoming a child again! Nice campfire. Comfortable beds! Will go again. There is s shared kitchen. Rooms with own bathroom. Use electricity wisely. Nice library.

Great outdoor place , if your looking for a luxury place this isn’t it

We stayed here for 1 night it was starting to get dark and we thought we wouldn’t make it , the road to the camp is very sandy ideally a 4x4 would do this journey well . When we got to the camp we were greeted by Rupert who looked rather tipsy but in a good fun mood he got me a beer and we all sat and had a drink . He showed us to our cabin which had a hammock at the back by the bathroom and the main room was a large tent and at the front it was a sitting out area . The main room had a double bed and a single bed the sheets were lovely crisp and clean all the sockets were there for charging our phones etc . He mentioned that booking . Com had not sent my payment to him but he said we will sort it in the morning, which I thought was lovely ( most places want the money upfront) anyhow it was paid for the next day . There was people from all walks of life , botanists , doctors , teachers and missionaries it was a great group of people. I would definitely recommend this place but don’t expect luxury and I’d say no good for wheelchairs

Eselbe, the place to be!

Very chilled place, amazing atmosphere. Owner Rupert is a fantastic guy and a very friendly soul. It's situated on the banks of river Nata, which offers night canoeing under the stars. I was supposed to stay only one night and ended up being there for 3. Met amazing people. Highly recommend a stop here if passing Nata.

Individual and well priced.

A quirky camp, it looks like it was built from driftwood and bamboo and hanging blankets all adding to a certain charm. The ensuite menu tents are as you'd expect with lovely clean bedclothes and the essential mosquito net with a hot shower provided a very comfortable nights sleep. Dinner, well priced optional extra, great beef, chicken, rice, butternut squash with onion and tomato spicy sauce was communal, a dozen or more travellers at one table enjoying stories of travel and adventures to come in Botswana. No breakfast option offered. Definitely individual and well priced.

A rustic gem that felt like a home away from home

What a find!! We loved everything about Eselbe camp from the warm welcome and cup of tea, through to the cosy bedroom and home cooked roast meal.
Rupert made us feel really welcome, and we felt right at home from the start. We stayed in a private room which was simply and comfortable furnished with a beautiful en-suite bathroom. After returning from Nata bird sanctuary where we did a sunset drive on the pans (organised by Rupert through Nata lodge), we were met with a full cooked meal and sat around the table with other guests and the work away staff member.
In the morning we had a full breakfast cooked for us and had our fresh coffee whilst sat on a picnic bench which was floating on the river. We didn’t have time to take the kayaks out but it would have been really easy.
Thank you Rupert for a wonderful stay!
