An Amazing Stay at Gakyil Hotel

Gakyil is one of the best places to stay in the heart of Thimphu. When I first arrived, it felt like any other hotel, but after staying for nearly three months, I realized it had become my second home because of its warm welcome and outstanding hospitality.
I would especially like to thank the manager, Tek, and the wonderful staff. Surya, Sangey and Urmila at the restaurant, along with Dawa and Rabina from room service, always provided exceptional service with genuine care and kindness.
The front desk team—Thomas, Anil, and Sapana—were always full of positive energy and ready to help. Their warm smiles and friendly conversations made every day better. After a long day of work, I would forget all my stress as soon as I walked into the hotel and spoke with them.
They all made me feel truly at home, and I'm still surprised at how quickly those 90 days passed. I miss Bhutan, and I especially miss Gakyil and the amazing people who made my stay so memorable.
Thank you for making my time there feel like home. I hope to return again someday.

A Surprising Budget Stay

We just returned from a 6 nights trip from Bhutan and Gakyil was our very first abode in Bhutan. Situated in the heart of Thimpu, Gakyil took us by surprise. Being a budget hotel, the service, the cleanliness, the courteousness of the staff and the quality of food served here will surely win your heart. It is highly recommended that you book a room in the top most floor for getting beautiful views of the mountains, the football court, the clock tower and the central market. It is also in walking distance from the Souvenir market and a number of popular cafes. A big thanks to Chef Prasanjit and Ms Padma for their warm service throughout our stay and also the lady on front desk with a smile on her face always.

Indian cuisine restaurant-Worst service & Attitude

Worst service. The attitude of the lady/waitress was very bad. She was very arrogant and was showing attitude. When we complained about the burnt rotis she took the rotis and threw them on the table. We ordered 2 portions of 3 dishes each and we mentioned her to bring separately each portion but she brought in one bowl and said that it was 2 portions in a single bowl. When we asked why she brought like that she was commenting about Indians in her language. Her attitude was so much that she was chewing the gum from the beginning and looking at all of us seriously.
