Comfortable Stay in a Great Halifax Location

We recently stayed at the Moxy Downtown Halifax and really enjoyed its central location — about a 10‑minute walk to the waterfront, restaurants, and activities. The room layout was unique, with two queen beds positioned headboard‑to‑headboard, which offered a nice sense of privacy. I do wish the room had some shelving, as everything had to be hung on hooks around the room, but it did include a small fridge and the lobby offered complimentary coffee and tea in the mornings.
The bar/reception setup made the lobby feel lively and welcoming, and there was always someone available to help. We enjoyed the vibe and stayed for a drink. One area for improvement would be the pillows, which felt lumpy and in need of updating. We didn’t request room cleaning during our stay, but appreciated the shelf stocked with extra towels and toiletries for guests to grab as needed. Parking was available on-site for a daily fee.
A final note for fellow travelers: the common areas are shared spaces, not personal living rooms. It’s helpful for guests to be mindful of noise levels and supervise children so everyone can enjoy the space comfortably. This isn’t a reflection on the hotel — just a reminder about considerate travel etiquette.

Great price and just a short walk downtown, as well as friendly and capable staff. Also a fun lobby with old games.
Two negatives would be a lack of surfaces in the room, and sound concerns.
There is a fold down desk, and a small side table with limited space. Beyond that is just a small raised luggage foldable and the windowsill.
We could also hear into the hall and outside more easily than I would have guessed, especially considering we were 6 floors up. I would suggest bringing ear plugs or just a white noise device.

Great modern hotel with some personality. Walking distance to the Citadel and boardwalk with dozens of bars and rstaurants.

Loved it!

I've always wondered why hotels have such large rooms (2 beds). I don't plan to spend much time in my hotel room and that is where The Moxy was GREAT. These are small rooms with essentials. A bed, small bedside tables, hooks for coats etc, underbed storage. Nice bathroom with a great shower. A free welcome drink, games in the lobby.... clearly geared to the younger traveler, but worked for this nearly retired couple! Underground parking was a big bonus.

The room were clean yet had no chairs, tables or sofa. Felt like I was in a prison cell. Will never stay there again for the price it cost.
