Good value for one night stay

The motel is located right on the Trans Canada Highway which is very convenient for me to get back and continue my ride. There are a lot of restaurants in the area within walking distance. The room is clean with comfy bed. It’s good to crash for one night. I was surprised that it’s so quiet eventhough it’s right next to the Highway. There is laundry service. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only problem is that WiFi is super weak when I’m in my room. It’s very good value.

You get what you pay for

You get what you pay for spend the little extra and go for a brand name hotel/motel. Bathroom is beyond small step into tub to close the door. Beds are uncomfortable and the AC unit did not work. Windows don’t open so can’t even let in a cool breeze. The only good thing is the office staff was a nice guy. So disappointed because we had stayed here in the past and had a good stay then.

Rip off

Got a deal online - 3 nights for $151.00. Showed up and they said that was a mistake and that price was for 1 night.. even after i showed my receipt (I will try to post in the comments) The office was closed in the morning so couldn't even talk to anyone at the front desk. I wen't back to the room the following evening and walked in on a stranger. So they not only price gouged me but they re-booked the room. Anyways, i still have the key, i suppose if they want it back- they can contact me.. with a refund.

Are you kidding me!

OMG - are you kidding me! What a filthy, stinky, dump! You might want to leave your coveralls on, apparently everyone else has. There was no way we were climbing into those beds. It's beyond me how they get such great reviews. At least they gave us a refund.

Lamplighter Layover

Sparkling clean rooms and very friendly staff are the high points of this small motel. It's easy to find, being right next to the Trans-Canada hwy nearer the east end of Kamloops. Fast-food joints, restaurants and gas stations are close by, and there's even a quirky, but servicible laundry that saved us in a pinch. The motel is older and somewhat worn, but remember you get what you pay for and at $80 total for the night for 2 queen beds, 2 people, my dog and taxes, you can't complain that the blankets and chairs had seen better days. The beds were comfortable enough. There's a microwave and mini-fridge in the room, a little table with chairs and a fair-sized TV (that we didn't watch, so no comment on that or available channels). The wifi worked better than at a lot of places I've stayed at, so I was happy.
There's a steam room and hot tub, which the staff at the front desk can unlock for you. We didn't use them either, so can't share more than that.
Bathrooms have been recently renovated which was nice, but with no grab bars it was a bit stressful getting my disabled daughter in and out of the shower/tub combo.
There's a wee playground out front for the younger set.
If you are looking for a cheap, clean, pet-friendly place to spend the night, then the Lamplighter is worth a try. :-)
