What a Gem in the Heart of Split
What a gem of a hotel we found in Split!
After a disastrous hotel stay in Budapest (see my review from there), we spontaneously decided to head to Split for a few days. I booked Marmont Heritage on the fly, just hours before we were supposed to arrive. I was dealing with a knee that wasn’t behaving, so I was specifically looking for somewhere with limited stairs both at the property and in the surrounding area. The reviews were excellent, there was only one room left, so I grabbed it.
Then our flight out of Budapest was canceled.
Communication with the hotel could not have been easier. We were reassured that our room would remain ready for us and our reservation would not be canceled, even though we wouldn’t arrive until the following day.
When we finally made it to Split, we decided at the last minute to rent a car. I contacted the hotel and was immediately able to reserve one of their paid parking spaces.
From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with such warmth by Marija, Anna, and Dubo. Our luggage had not made it to Split with us, and Anna immediately took charge, gathering all of our baggage information so that she and the staff could follow up on it for us.
Walking into our room felt like entering a cool, cozy retreat. Comfortable bed, wonderful linens, a light summer duvet, modern bathroom, and, most importantly after our experience in Budapest, air conditioning that worked beautifully. We were finally able to catch up on our lost sleep, and it was genuinely the best sleep we had during our month-long trip.
The location was perfect. We were right in the heart of Old Town, just a short walk from the waterfront, restaurants, and sights, yet I could wander around without encountering many steps, which was exactly what I needed.
Breakfast was delicious, and the staff could not have been friendlier. We actually preferred sitting indoors, looking out through the windows and watching people wander by. It’s such a lovely space. We also stopped in for cocktails and had lunch there one day.
What really made Marmont special, though, was the staff. They didn’t simply give us generic recommendations. They listened to what we were looking for and helped us find it. Anna connected my husband with a great place to play pickleball. Marija sent us to a wonderful local tavern for lunch where we appeared to be the only tourists, and on our final day she recommended a terrific place for us to taste Croatian wines.
This was one of those hotels where the people truly made the stay.
We absolutely loved Marmont Heritage and Split, and we’re already talking about coming back and bringing friends with us next time.

I don’t want to leave!
It has truly been one of the most magical hotel experiences ever. Truly magical. From the moment we arrived and the concierge met us to take our luggage from car to hotel. To check in. To the dinner arrangements and other plans. To working miracles like finding a cart to take us to port at last minute. Anna was nothing short of an angel. The room was super comfortable and very large with a beautiful small terrace. Housekeeper was a sweetheart. Always ready to grab us extra towels or beach towels. We travel all over the the world and this is a standout for sure! I can’t wait to return!

What’s good: the location is perfect, the staff are friendly and super helpful, and they provide parking near the old town.
However, the hotel was very overpriced for what it was, and it’s a glorified AirBnb more than a hotel. Breakfast was just ok, on the last day we actually skipped the hotel breakfast (which was already paid for) and had breakfast in town. The rooms don’t really have a view of anything. If the room was 30% cheaper this would have been great, but it wasn’t as good as expected.
However, the hotel was very overpriced for what it was, and it’s a glorified AirBnb more than a hotel. Perfect location
Only stayed one night, but the hotel will live longer in our memory. Helpful Happy staff. Brilliant location. Right in the heart of split. Big comfortable modern rooms. We’ve got a free upgrade to one of the posh rooms which was massive with its own fridge and modern walk in shower . Breakfast the next morning was fantastic. Everything you could want, including Prosecco! I’ve stayed in large hotels with twice as many kitchens and twice as many staff and it was half as good quality as this breakfast. Well done.

Nice hotel, great service
Very nice hotel in a great location. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had a suitcase issue immediately before arriving, and had to buy a new one. Instead of telling us where a suitcase store was, and pointing the direction, Dubo (I'm sure I'm spelling his name wrong) walked us to the store 10 minutes away, helped us communicate with the sales person, walked us back to the hotel, carrying our new suitcase. He, and everyone else, offered a level of service we rarely see.
