Lovely place and good location
We’d happily return to the Perla Marina. Overall, it’s a lovely, spotlessly clean hotel in a great location, with just one part that really lets it down.
Location
The hotel is around a 10-minute stroll from the Balcón de Europa, and there are plenty of places to eat and drink close by. There are also two supermarkets nearby, which is handy.
The hotel
The Perla Marina is made up of two buildings on opposite sides of the road. The rooftop pool and breakfast restaurant are in one building, while the reception and what we’d call the main hotel are in the other, overlooking the sea.
Everywhere was spotlessly clean – our room, the communal areas and both pool areas.
We’d definitely recommend booking a sea-view room if you can. The view is well worth it.
Rooms
Our room had a fridge, with some complimentary water waiting for us when we arrived.
Toiletries are very basic – essentially one bottle of general body/hair wash – so we’d suggest taking your own shampoo, conditioner etc. That said, with two supermarkets nearby, it’s easy enough to pick up anything you’ve forgotten.
Pools
The rooftop pool is lovely – modern, clean and really nicely done. It does get busy, though, and the pool itself is insanely cold!
The pool in the main building overlooks the sea and was noticeably quieter. We never struggled to get a sun lounger here at all, so this ended up being our preferred pool.
Breakfast
Breakfast was fine – nothing particularly special, but perfectly adequate with what we needed to start the day.
Restaurant Rocomar
Unfortunately, Restaurant Rocomar completely lets the hotel down. The staff were rude and grumpy, service was poor, and the drinks were overpriced – and that’s if you could actually manage to get someone’s attention to order one!
We’d suggest giving it a swerve. There is so much choice for food and drinks within a short stroll of the hotel that there really is no need to use it.
Overall
We’d happily stay at the Perla Marina again. It’s clean, well located, has lovely pool areas and we really enjoyed the sea-view room. We’d definitely return – we’d just avoid Restaurant Rocomar next time.I can also make it slightly punchier and more TripAdvisor-style if that’s where you’re planning to post it.

Disappointed
Nice clean hotel but the service in the canteen ( i wouldnt call it a restaurant ) was appauling. Staff very unfriendly & at times really rude. 75 cent for a glass of ice too. I even had my beer slammed on the table when it arrived.

Very good stay overall, reception can do better
My partner & I just returned from nerja where we stayed at the Hotel Perla Marina. The positives were the location,very good just outside of the main town centre but no more than a 5 min walk and beach is right next to where we were staying. Room was a good size with balcony,have to mention the power shower-amazing!
It was clean and had all we needed in there. Our cleaner was great, anything we asked her she was happy to do. We were B& B and breakfast was good not great. However when we first arrived tired, hot and thirsty I went into the reception greeted with no smiles and told my name wasn't on their system,I showed them my paperwork I had as proof and told me to go to the Apartments next door which I did only to be told that I was in the wrong place and need to go back to hotel reception which was where i came from which I did.Same woman then found my details, no apology was given for her mistake.So good value for money overall but the Reception let's the hotel down in my opinion.

Hotel Perla Marina terrace restaurant
A total disaster, they have neither order nor organization. You arrive first and they serve you last, especially the male workers. Like everything, there is one exception: a very kind and hardworking waitress.

Fantastic short break
We’ve been coming to Nerja for over 35 years but it’s the first time we’ve stayed in the Perla Marina. It was perfect for a quick post GCSE break as a family, we booked 5 nights with Jet2.
Newly refurbished to a really good standard , the rooms were great. We had 2 sea view rooms in the annexe. Plenty of space, great bathrooms and very comfortable.
We were bed and breakfast as there are so many good restaurants. Breakfast had great choice, catering for the various nationalities.
The rooftop pool and bar is gorgeous, very sleek and as a result was more of a TOWIE party atmosphere. We’re past that but looked great fun!
We chose the ground floor pool as it was by the beach. During the day we ate at the hotel beach bar or one of the nearby chiringuitos.
Aside from a really weird interaction where reception told me we’d been pouring water onto people in the street in the early hours and they wanted to report us to the police (we hadn’t !) we had a great stay. Not a misunderstanding as my andaluz is pretty good!
Staff were lovely in general and the hotel was incredibly clean. We will definitely return.
