The only one concern I had was that the beds were so uncomfortable I couldn’t sleep. It was way too hard! Even my husband who can sleep on anything agreed!

Extremely Unsanitary Rooms, Stained Bedding, Hair on Sheets, and Partial Refund Despite Promise
We checked into Blue Dolphin Inn and after a quick shower, we noticed multiple hygiene issues: hair on the pillows and sheets, dark speck stains along the pillow creases (bed‑bug‑like spotting), torn fabric, and reddish stains looked like dried blood. There were also pants left on a chair right outside our room, which made it clear the area hadn’t been properly cleaned.
The front desk said housekeeping had already left and offered us another room (144), but it had the same problems, stained bedding, more hair on the pillows, and feces‑like stains on the mattress. We took photos and told the front desk we were not comfortable staying. They agreed and promised a full refund, we handed the key over and left to look for another place.
Despite that promise, the hotel only refunded $148 out of $441 with no clear explanation. Our travel agency (Chase Travel) later told us the hotel charged us because we “used the shower,” even though we never stayed the night and left due to serious cleanliness and health concerns.
This was a stressful experience. The unsanitary conditions, the bed‑bug‑like stains, the blood‑like and feces‑like stains, the hair on the bedding, and the refusal to honor the promised refund are unacceptable. Photos attached.

Chose this hotel based on the high reviews which I usually have good luck with. Boy, was I wrong this time. Our first day we noticed room wasn’t great. Mold in bathroom, paint peeling everywhere. Ok, I can get by with that the few days we needed. After all, we just needed a shower and bed to sleep in. Until, my bf got bit by something on our last night there while sleeping and we tore the bed apart looking for it and was absolutely disgusted with what we were sleeping on. When I complained and showed the lady pictures, she didn’t think we got the bug bite from the hotel because we didn’t find the bug! She said the sheets were unacceptable and but couldn’t give me a refund because we paid through hotels.com. Oh and the microwave was gross too! I asked if the other rooms were remodeled because there are a lot of 10/10 and 8/10 reviews and she said no. Ya, ok. I don’t know where those people who gave reviews so high stayed but it certainly wasn’t in my room 123! Never again and definitely don’t recommend.

Lean room, large outdoor pool. Parking right outside the room. Modest room but sufficient with microwave and fridge. Decent value, great location for National Seashore beaches.

Overall, the room was satisfactory and the location was excellent.
There are a few relatively simple additions that I think would improve the guest experience. An ice bucket in the room would be helpful for getting ice, and larger bath towels would be appreciated. Complimentary bottled water would also be a nice touch, or at minimum, a filtered bottle-filling station somewhere on the property.
The mattresses were okay and comfortable enough for a short stay, but I would not consider them luxury quality. For someone who is more sensitive to mattress support, I could see them potentially waking up with some back discomfort.
There are also no food options available at the hotel, even for purchase. There is a restaurant nearby, which is convenient, but having at least some basic food, snacks, or grab-and-go items available on the property would be a nice addition.
Overall, it was a satisfactory stay, with the excellent location being the biggest highlight. With a few additional amenities and upgrades, the property could provide a noticeably better overall experience.
