a very nice welcome

Great welcome, beautiful room, quality bedding, quiet, great breakfast, not too far from the city center (15 minutes on foot), welcoming couple, friendly discussions, in short it's all good, they happily welcome bikers, in short we will come back

Bof!

For our holidays we wanted to spend some time in Barceloneta. For this we selected a cottage near the city center. What a disappointment, the accommodation was not up to our expectations, we relied on the photos of the site, but they do not reflect reality. Certainly the place is clean but the setting remains is a bit disappointing.

To flee absolutely.

The cottage called “studio” on the ground floor is a converted garage. A towel for two people and no soap. This place is a tourist catch. Moreover the staff is condescending and contemptuous. This place is a cash machine, customer satisfaction comes last. So go somewhere else. In addition, the opening is 5 pm not a minute less as at Social Security.

Very welcoming family stay in a great holiday area

Gite Tranquyl is all about the people. Christian and his wife Elizabeth are extremely warm and friendly hosts who have an excellent knowledge of the Ubaye valley and will do everything they can to help you get what you want out of your holiday. The Table d'Hotes is extremely good and each evening is an enjoyable dinner party with your hosts and other visitors (note some spoken French would be a major advantage as the conversation is generally in that language). Cyclists and bikers are well provided for with secure storage. Those undertaking strenuous cycling activities might want to check arrangements for making up energy/recovery drinks as there are fairly but understandably strict rules around not bringing food into the Gite.

Spot on for bikers, cyclists and walkers

Spent a week here in July 2014 and found everything we needed for a cycling holiday. Secure bike storage, simple but comfortable and clean rooms (including twin rooms - not always easy to find in France). Loads of food to fuel your day, with the emphasis on local produce and home cooking.
Hosts are friendly, welcoming and flexible. You feel that they are genuinely happy to share their home and that they want you to have the best possible experience of their region.
Meal times are taken round a big table, and it's great to share experiences of the day with other guests, most of whom will be active types; when we were there it seemed to be mostly Swiss, mixture of cyclists and bikers - I agree with other reviewers that to get the best experience from Gite Tranqyl, it helps to have a smattering of French.
There's loads to do around Barcelonnette, and I'd have no hesitation in going back to Gite Tranqyl.
