Beautiful hotel in the heart of the Canal
Very nice experience at the Citizen! The hotel is ideally located in the heart of the Canal Saint Martin, the service is friendly, the decor is polished, and the rooms are comfortable

Very nice hotel with a great location overlooking the canal. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was well-appointed and had air conditioning that helped during the latest canicule, and the neighborhood was very cool. They helpfully stored my luggage for the day while I had an interview nearby. I wish I had time to try the breakfast and coffee because it looked good. It was also a great value for a hotel with such a central location.

The staff was so incredibly kind and helpful, especially Celine! The coffee shop downstairs was a great way to start the day. The hotel is located on a canal which is full of restaurants and young people of all walks and at all hours of the night, so this may not be the place for you if you’re a light sleeper but I enjoyed it. The neighborhood had everything and was a quick walk to the metro.
The room was clean but tiny and the a/c couldn’t keep up with the sun, so be sure to leave the black out curtains closed during the day (housekeeping does not). The hotel provided a fan to make up for how stuffy the room was upon arrival to the bright room and I made sure to leave the housekeeping not needed sign on the door. There was a hairdryer and steamer provided, as well as a little hallway to tuck your suitcases away in. Minor issues included a flickering bathroom light, and the shower didn’t completely drain which I learned was a new ick of mine. Also, had a rain head shower that dripped even when not in use, which made me regret forgetting my shower cap. Despite these minor issues, I would definitely stay here again, just not in the middle of a heatwave!

We stayed at Le Citizen Hôtel for two nights and had a great experience. The hotel is small, clean, and well maintained, with excellent, friendly, and genuinely helpful staff. A pleasant surprise was that the reception team also make outstanding coffee, easily some of the best we had in the area,
Highly recommended.

This hotel is advertised as a 4-star hotel, but the services do not even meet the standards of a good 3-star hotel.
This hotel is advertised as a 4-star hotel, but the services do not even meet the standards of a good 3-star hotel.
For two people, the bed was extremely impractical. The second person practically had to climb over the first person to reach their sleeping space. The remote control for the television was hidden under the bed, and since the television was already turned on, we could not turn it off the entire night.
The sink is located directly in the bedroom, about one meter from the bed. The shower is also very poorly designed: The rain shower from above can hardly be used, as there is not enough space for it. There is no individual climate control. Guests cannot adjust or regulate the air conditioning.
There is no proper breakfast room. Instead, the hotel bar is used as the breakfast area. When other guests are present at the same time, there are too few seats for breakfast. The small bar tables hardly provide enough space for two people, let alone three.
The cleanliness during breakfast was particularly disappointing. There was no responsible staff to clean the tables. From the beginning to the end of breakfast, the tables were not cleared or cleaned. Every new guest had to clean the table themselves.
Additionally, the restroom in the breakfast area was marked as defective. According to the staff, there was no replacement restroom available.
The reception is located on the first floor. At check-in, only computer terminals are available for guests to check themselves in. Only with some luck does one receive assistance from an employee. Even at breakfast, coffee must be ordered at the bar and then picked up by oneself.
For two rooms and one night, we paid a total of 762 euros. Given the high price and the very limited service offerings, the value for money is absolutely inadequate from our perspective. The hotel feels more like a self-service hotel with minimal staff involvement than a 4-star hotel.
Conclusion: Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel for the price charged. The amenities, service, and organization do not meet the expectations of a 4-star hotel.
