Great holiday to remember.

This hotel is a hidden gem just outside Tigati Kos.
Myself My wife and 2 daughters stayed here at the end of July for 1 week. We absolutely loved our stay. The rooms were cleaned every day. Breakfast was served a mixture of meats yoghurt and fruits. The staff were fantastic and entertaining with something for everyone. Alan the barman was great with everyone and made all feel welcome. The menu each night was varied with a Greek special on offer at reasonable prices we didn't feel the need to dine out.
The pool was clean and warm with a variety of water toys for the children and plenty of loungers. The owner George made us feel welcome from day 1 and even stepped in and took us to Kos Town when our taxi didn't turn up for out Boat trip.
Usually when I go somewhere I only go once but the hospitality on offer here I would book and return again. Thank you to all the staff at Blue Nest and we look forward to coming again.

great hotel in general

I had a great stay at this hotel ! Overall i had a amazing time with only some slight issues but i will start with the good things, The staff was amazing and very welcoming a example of this was when we first arrived at the hotel it was very late and we hadn't eaten and the kitchen was closed and still made us a toastie which was very thoughtful, another example was the lady at reception she was very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast had many options so everyone could have something they enjoyed . The pool was very big and accessible to everyone the only downside of the pool is the wasps the wasps were on the drains of the pool so it was difficult to get in and out of the pool this did eventually lead to people getting stung by the wasps but it was avoidable if you didn't irritate them you would not be getting stung . The rooms our room had two beds for 4 which was enough for us however the room was quite limited to things like kettles and water so you had to get water from reception. The beds , one of the beds was a sofa bed which was quite uncomfortable as it was hard materess , however mattress toppers was offered at reception. The good things about the room was that there was a TV and a fridge this was very handy and there was lots of storage for clothes and other personal belongings however there was no safe in the room for valuable items .
The hotel is a little remote but we hired a car so wasnt an issue
i think the hotel also hires bikes out

Tired and too far away from town

Very friendly staff who try very hard but unfortunately that’s where it stops beds were rock hard none of us slept the first night… thankfully read on here mattress toppers were available so we all acquired one which made it a bit better! The place is tired and needs a good revamp! Too far from tigaki to walk and buses every hour or so…. taxis are scarce! Breakfast was pretty poor only fruit was water melon and a few mornings brown grapes yoghurt toast mini croissants etc air con €5 a night and we needed it!

Honest review

We had booked two apartments and only had one apartment on arrival even after showing booking documents, we just accepted we were only getting one apartment.
Blue nest is very far from any shops and would need some sort of transport to get you around. We did rely on buses to get us out and about which is 2.5euro one way. Bus stop was 5 mins around the corner, Nearest shop was a 20 minute walk away.
Breakfast was ok, cereal, toast, boiled egg, pastry’s and fruit. Tea coffee juice available 7.30-10am. We ate at blue nest a couple of times and was nice, we enjoyed Greek night which I think was 20euro pp.
Rooms were cleaned every day with clean towels, we had an ant problem one night with ants in the bed which was changed as soon as I reported. Beds were rock hard, woke up with a sore back. Had to ask for mattress toppers which was a little better. Shower was tiny and flooded the bathroom.
Pool was ok- there is a small toddlers section and the main pool was very deep once you got half way. Lots of wasps around the edge of the pool but they didn’t bother us.
You have to give ur room number everytime u order food/drink which I think you can build up a tab to ur room (we didn’t we just paid straight away). I felt a little bit sorry for the pool guy(Asian guy) whose name I think was ‘depop ’ We would always go out of our way to have a chat to him. Alan the bar man didn’t seem to talk to him in a nice way ☹️
Beach short walk away- no shops or bars by beach. I probably wouldn’t return due to how far away it was from anything.

Needs improving

Holiday Review – Blue Nest Hotel, Kos
We had a fantastic two weeks in Kos and, ultimately, really enjoyed our holiday. A big part of that was because we decided to make the most of our surroundings and spent most days at the Irena Beach Hotel opposite, which we felt was much better managed.
Unfortunately, I feel the Blue Nest itself has quite a few areas that need improvement.
The biggest positive by far was Alan, the barman. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Alan absolutely deserves the 5-star rating I’ve given for service. This man was brilliant! He worked incredibly hard with very little help and seemed to have a never-ending list of jobs. He was the barman (and the only one), server, waiter, lifeguard, music organiser and cleaner. At times, he looked completely exhausted.
Tbok, the waiter, was also very good, friendly and efficient.
I genuinely feel the hotel needs more staff, particularly on busier evenings such as Greek night. Having a dedicated lifeguard would take some pressure off Alan, as well as help with the constant wasp problem around the pool.
Anna on reception was pleasant, as was George, the hotel manager. However, we did feel that George sometimes appeared annoyed when we chose to spend the day or evening away from the hotel.
The rooms ️
Our bungalow was very basic. We had a few ants in the room and, in Bungalow 3, the window didn’t lock.
The shower flooded every day. We reported this, but unfortunately it took another reminder two days later before it was looked at.
The beds were extremely uncomfortable and the only solution offered was a mattress topper.
The maids, however, were very attentive and did a great job.
A kettle and some cups in the room would also have been a welcome addition. There was a fridge, which was useful.
Location
I also feel the location is slightly misleading.
It’s around a 25-minute walk to the nearest shop and approximately 45–50 minutes into Tigaki itself, so we relied on the bus from the stop about five minutes away.
The buses were €2 each way to Tigaki and €2.50 each way to Kos Town. This became quite expensive over two weeks, especially as taxis were very limited and unreliable.
Food & breakfast ☕
Breakfast at Blue Nest was very basic and, unfortunately, the same every day. The only fruit available was melon, boiled eggs were available on some days but not others, and the coffee was really not very good.
Overall ⭐
We absolutely loved Kos and had a wonderful two weeks, but I think that was largely because we made the holiday our own rather than relying on the hotel facilities.
For us, the Blue Nest was the biggest disappointment of the holiday. Without Alan, I honestly don’t think I could give the hotel the rating I have.
In my opinion, Blue Nest is closer to a 1-star hotel — but Alan deserves 5 stars all by himself! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
More staff, better maintenance, improved breakfast and a little more attention to the overall guest experience would make a huge difference.
Kos itself, however, was absolutely beautiful and we would happily return. ❤️
