Charming Chamba
This is to say thank you for the wonderful stay we had with you - which now seems so long ago. This was a very special part of our holiday in India and your help, guidance and generosity was really appreciated by us. We did feel part of the family and the way you helped to accommodate our needs was very touching. We can't wait to come back and experience it again.

Unforgettable stay
we stayed two weeks with the Dhami family. very good starting point for trekking. With great advice from family members who themselves have great experience in organizing and conducting trekking. The family attaches great importance to organic farming and cultivation. What comes on the table comes from your own garden or from surrounding farmers - delicious. In addition to trekking, Orchard Hut offers cooking classes, meditation introductions or helping with the agricultural economy. Again, the Orchard Hat is ideal for practicing yoga and/or reading a book in the hammock and listening to the tree noise.
The Orchard Hut is reached by a walk of around 15 - 20min - very nice. Of course, assistance is provided in the transport of luggage.
We came as guests and left as friends - has been fully fulfilled and we could not have imagined a better stay. A stay is highly recommended.

Wonderful Himalayan Homestay Vacation - Off the Beaten Track, Memories for a Life Time
Travelled to Himalayan Orchard Huts (HOH) in March 2025. Self and two young kids - one teen and one in twenties.
Planning experience and itinerary - Excellent. Nitin is a very considerate and resourceful tour planner. He was quick to revise our itinerary to cater for our requirements and also changes in weather.
Pick up from Dharamshala airport and transfer to property - Excellent
Location - Serene and Charming. Nestled in the hills of Chamba on the banks of River Sal. From the parking lot, one has to walk uphill for 15-20 min (Takes that much time for a reasonably fit 54 yr old). The walk over the foot bridge on the river and through the farm and woods is indeed part of the charm. However, persons with mobility issues would need to factor this. Help was provided to transfer the luggage though.
Arrival and reception - We were warmly received at the parking lot by Shri Prakash Dhami, the patriarch of the family, himself, and escorted up to the home. The welcome ceremony in traditional Chamba manner was very touching.
Rooms and property - Well appointed, cozy, well maintained, hygienic, comfortable. The view from the balcony and the terraces are heavenly. We enjoyed endless cups of tea and snacks on the balcony, terrace and garden, just soaking in the experience. The quiet is broken only by the chirping of birds, rustling leaves and children playing in the nearby villages. One could read a book or snooze in the room, or out in the sun or next to the fireplace, watching the day go by. The dining room and the lounge/ library are tastefully done and add to the charm of the place. The pool, the garden chairs and the hammocks are all there to enhance your experience, even though its enchanting enough as it is. The home is located within their own farm. The farm itself is worth spending a whole day exploring.
Food - Great spread of Chamba and Himachali cuisine, including breads, veggies, curries and desserts. Tasty, wholesome and served with humility and warmth. Most of the produce is home grown. We are mostly vegetarian and that was catered for. Upon our request, just once, a local chicken dish was served, and that too was lip smacking.
Hospitality - Simply wonderful. The whole family makes you feel at home. They live on location and that makes all the difference. All the cooking is done by the senior Mrs Dhami and her daughter Phalguni Ma'am themselves. All family members, from the elders to the children take turns serve you on your table personally. Indeed a very humbling and touching experience to be in their midst.
Local tourism - Chamba is yet an unexplored tourist destination and we did not see a single tourist anywhere during our walks in the hills, the villages and Chamba town. The untouched natural beauty, the quiet, the clean air and the connect with the local people and culture are worth travelling hundreds or even thousands of miles.
Cost Factor - Extremely reasonably priced. Couldn't have had even half of this experience at any price from a five star resort or a big time tour organiser.

A serene escape to orchards hut!!
Our stay at Orchards Hut in Chamba was truly unforgettable. From the moment I arrived, the warmth of Uncle, Aunty, Vinayak, Tanu Di, Krishna, and Rupanshi made us feel right at home. This amazing family is so grounded, positive, and deeply connected with nature, creating an inviting atmosphere throughout our visit.
The rooms were clean and spacious, equipped with every facility you could need; truly, they had it all! Plus, the amenities like a library, Ludo, and carom added an extra layer of fun to our stay, making it an enjoyable retreat.
Surrounded by lush orchards and breathtaking landscapes, delighted in memorable trekking moments that allowed us to fully appreciate the beauty of the surroundings. One of my favorite experiences was having a riverside lunch, savoring delicious local dishes including madra, guchchi pulao, chug, french fries, plum juice, scrumptious chicken and fresh plum jam along with delightful chutneys.
Each meal felt special—prepared with authentic spices and served with a big smile. The family’s dedication to providing fresh, homemade food added a personal touch that made every dining experience memorable.
As I left Orchards Hut, I carried with me not just stunning views and delicious meals, but also a renewed sense of peace and connection to the warmth of this beautiful family. I look forward to returning to this wonderful retreat in the future!

Once in a lifetime experience
The place was beautiful with a bonfire to hammock and a beautiful view
The best part was the trek and such a welcoming family handling the cottage with two cute dogs protecting the place (tipsy and Barbie)
The food was amazinggg made from the vegetables grown over there
There is also a game room with numerous games like darts, UNO , snake and ladder etc to enjoy with a cool breeze
Lastly the meditation session also taught me a lot held by Mr Prakash Ji
Overall the experience was beautifulll and I can’t wait to visit again
