Centrally located ,Neat rooms ,Value find

It is right opposite to bus stand. The rooms, sheets were neat and clean. The bathrooms were clean. Food is average. It is close to the temple about 500 m walk. The room has an electric kettle and basic toiletries.AC worked well and was smelling fresh. Has ample parking space in that busy street. It was a decent place with helpful staff. Since the windows were locked and the rooms were AC outside noise was very less.

Black Mould, Cockroaches it’s not Humanely Habitable

Black mould, cockroaches and the lack of cleanliness, this hotel was certainly not habitable. It was nothing like the photos that were used to advertise. The staff were far from helpful too. Stay away from this one, it’s unfortunately beyond a dive.

I cannot stress this enough: AVOID VANDAYAR HOTEL AT ALL COSTS. Walking into our rooms was like stepping into a toxic nightmare — the stench of black mould hit us instantly, overpowering and nauseating. It was genuinely sickening. The floors were rotting beneath our feet, the walls and corners coated with black mould, and the air felt dangerous to breathe. No one should be allowed to stay here; it’s a health risk, and authorities should shut down this place.
The service? Non-existent. Staff were blazé, unresponsive, and couldn’t care less about the state of the hotel or their guests' well-being.
The website and the glowing reviews? Completely FAKE and misleading. Don’t be fooled. This place is NOTHING like the photos. Our group of 13 people unanimously decided to abandon our booking, sacrificing the entire cost, to get out of there and find a safer, cleaner place to stay. That’s how bad it was.
For your own safety and sanity, STAY FAR AWAY from Vandayar Hotel.

Decent Hotel needing better maintenance

This was my second stay at this hotel since about 4~5 years ago. Conditions have changed largely. The hotel has not aged well & maintenance seems to be largely lacking. The hotel needs some investment from management to improve the maintenance.
That said, still it is a reasonable hotel considering it is right outside bus stand, railway station, parking facilities, two restaurants & not far from the temple. The facilities still exist but not well maintained. The staff are friendly and supportive to your needs. This still makes the hotel a decent stay. Complimentary breakfast was limited options but good.
Encourage the management to take some more initiatives.

Best Biryani, decent Hotel

Whenever we go to Chidambaram, we have stayed in this hotel. We have seen it age, it has not aged well. But what remains unchanged it is food, the biryani is out of the world. About the hotel, rooms can be old, may have some broken fixtures here and there, hygiene is not great, plastic cups for coffee which look more brown than white are some such things but we ignore for its close to temple, and biryani.
