What an experience
The flavors and taste was really nice.
Thanks to the safari jeep drivers , haresh and the naturalist gopal, who are so knowledgeable just not about the wildlife but even the forest and landscape around.
This is the only stay which exists in bhadra snd it is under jungle Lodge which we were experiencing the 1st time. The rooms may be basic but the view from each and every room is unbelievably beautiful.
They even screen a movie at night at the restaurant sharing about the forest around.
Highlights - great sightings of black panther, leopard, tucker, amazing birdlife, croc , indian gaur, wild bores , and many others.
Great food and comfortable stay.

Great views but basic
The rooms look shabby with worn out bed linen. There is uncleared debris splattered around which accentuates the sense of disrepair.
Additionally, the cottages are a proper hike and I imagine challenging for the older folks. This should be highlighted in the booking page, nudging people with the info that log huts are easier on your legs and heart (also wallet).
Overall okay for a night. Go for the views and the safaris. Go with lesser expectations about comfort, aesthetics and tiger sighting

A Wilderness Retreat
Overall, River Tern Lodge is a fantastic destination for those seeking a blend of nature, and wilderness.

Every bit as dreamy as it looks!
The food was amazing- less on oiliness yet high on taste with a lot of local delicacies that we loved.
Service was exemplary - restaurant, house-keeping, safari staff. Everyone was courteous and always smiling which just adds to the serenity of the place.
The boat safari was enjoyable (barring 2 noisy families who treated it as their living room party!). The boat took us near small islands where the river tern migratory birds (2000+) nest. We saw hundreds of eggs and small hatchlings along with the adult birds swarming over the island. The highlight of the boat ride was seeing a majestic wild tusker enjoying his mud bath while a small herd stood a little away guarding two baby elephants. It was a magnificent sight indeed!
The jungle safari was an adventure through sudden rain. Lush dense forests and we saw unique crocodile bark trees that we had never seen before. While animal spotting was disappointing (Gaur, Wild Boar, Deers, Monitor Lizard,Sambhar), it was interesting to see the jungle foliage.
The resort has two types of abode- log huts which are closer to the "Gol Ghar" or dining space and cottages which are at a relatively higher ground and accessed through an interesting bridge. I had booked the log huts as I am the lazy, unfit types who doesn't like huffing and puffing too much! However, if you are fit and a little adventurous and don't mind climbing 100 odd steps after the bridge about 3-4 times a day, you should try the cottages. They are gorgeous and have a great view - yes I did go to check what I was missing out on :)
But fret not, even the log huts have gorgeous views and ours was bang opposite the dining space which worked great for me!

Breath-taking natural beauty & biodiversity
Senior citizens need to be mindful of the multiple stairs & climbs to reach farther cottages. Network connectivity & wi fi is extremely poor. Cranky children can affect the experience for parents & other guests on the safaris.
