Questionable

We stayed one night for the hike to Mount Bromo. The rooms damp and smelly, we could not sleep. Various bugs in the room, no air conditioning and very spartan bathroom. I recommend other facilities. On maps it is not under his name, pay attention to the address.

I mean...

From 'outside the structure looks very good, there is also a spa. Around several little restaurants. The room a bit spartan, like the bathroom anyway. Excellent shared kitchen along the patio. It is an abundant hour from Mount Bromo. Breakfast is made to order, not buffet style

Nice property close to Mt Bromo

We had one night here whilst visiting Mt Bromo. The hotel itself was very clean and we had a lovely view from our balcony looking over the hillside in front of us. The breakfast included was pretty basic but apart from that our stay was very good.

Reasonable option for the budget conscious traveller

Stayed overnight at the Gubug Ndeso home stay while on a larger trip of eastern Java. We got placed in the family room a couple of floors above reception.
Pros
- Room was comfortable enough. Bed was ok. Didn’t have air conditioning but had a portable unit. Luckily it’s pretty cool at this altitude anyway.
- Staff were very friendly as we find is the norm in Indonesia .
- They served us breakfast in our room and it was good.
- Room was clean.
Cons
- Wifi wasn’t the best. Did connect but quite slow.
- The lock to our screen door leading to a communal patio was broken and so could be forced open if someone wanted to get in.
- They are building something next door so there is a bit of noise from the construction.
- Hot water worked but it kind of went from lava hot to freezing cold.
Overall given most people’s itineraries in this area are to stay overnight, visit bromo and move on it’s a reasonable option for a budget conscious traveller. It isn’t however a place you would necessarily want to linger .
