Take your time and relax
There was a lot of worms coming into my room, both seasonally and weather-wise, but it wasn't too unpleasant because they were explained to me at check-in.
Depending on dusk and early morning hours, prey deer, raccoon dogs, small birds and squirrels can come up to you (even touch your windows).
It is a place where there are no private houses or anything around, and you can forget your daily life and relax.
【Hot spring】
Alkaline and smooth skin.
It's not warm, but even if it's been soaking for a long time, it doesn't feel warm to the core.
The bath is warm, though.
【meal】
The quality and quantity of the course meal is satisfactory, or rather, the amount of a plate is large.
The unfortunate thing is that even when you're eating, you can always come down with empty small bowls and cups.
If you have an appetizer, like three small bowls, you can lower it from one small bowl instead of finishing all the appetizers.
I want to eat slowly, but it gives the illusion that I'm being rushed.

I have a few tattoos so couldn’t use the public onsen but they have a nice private onsen that we rented for 2000 yen for 1 hour. Was very nice and relaxing. Would come back

Surrounded by nature, no ensuite facilities in our room
Plus: Very relaxing surrounded by nature. Our room was big, had views of the forest with landscaped grounds with a bubbly stream flowing nearby. Dinner was excellent, 11 courses each superb and well presented. Prices are reasonable considering the 2 great meals.
Cons : only 2 rooms have ensuite bathrooms. Initially we had difficulty accepting that our room had no en suite facilities. We had to go to the common onsen. On our 2nd night, we paid for a private onsen.
It is showing signs of its age: creaking floorboard and the wooden wash basin counter has water marks. It’s another of those hotels which charges for onsen use, whether you use it or not, even when you have paid for a private onsen. No lifts at the block where we stayed as it’s only 2 levels so be prepared to haul your heavy luggage up 1 floor.
You can’t communicate with the hotel using email, only by phone or fax ( how many people uses this?) The reservation and payment is handled by a 3rd party which is unresponsive to queries left on its website.
It is best to reach the hotel before dark as the access road is twisty and winding.
Overall, I would still return here if I am in the area.
