Exceptional Mr.Ali

The Riad is located very close to one of the medina gates and close to the medina wall, about 1.8 Km from the souk. The man in charge of the Riad, Mr.Ali was exceptional. He didn't speak a word of English and yet he went out of his way to provide all assistance & help. We were given the suite, a massive room with 3 beds. The bathroom has accessories like soap, tooth brush & paste, shaving set etc, which was a rarity in Moroccan riads.
Mr.Ali drove us in his car to the souk and warned us, as he left us, to be careful of the 'bike-guys' who can snatch & run.
The traditional dinner was sumptuous and the breakfast was standard Moroccan riad fare.
I guess, we were the only guests in the Riad during the evening we spent here...the cleanliness outside the room was decent and the upkeep of the Riad moderate.
We give 5 * for our stay as it was comfortable & also because of Mr.Ali.

Disappointing experience. nothing like a Riad exuding Moroccan charm..

Hosting does not match the website.
riad frozen in the 70s.. unkept, uncultivated patio.
electrical outlets ripped out.. dirty carpeting.. dilapidated bathroom.

Avoid

Cold welcome, outdated and dirty rooms (crumbs and stains on the carpet, sticky nightstand), repulsive bathroom, exorbitant tourist taxes (even my 12 year old daughter had to pay), breakfast that had nothing to do with the other riads we stayed in Morocco.
The patio is in his juice, like the rest, and covered with a net. Anyway, we shouldn't.

TO FLEE

“Riah” has ESCAPED, sheets not changed, dirty rooms, electrical outlet torn off, unmaintained and uncultivated patio, cardboard, brooms etc . . that hang out in common places, tourist tax of 42 dirham per person per night - do not trust the notes of excellence it is quite the opposite.

Great.

Great place. Monsieur Ali is an incredible kindness. It would split in two to satisfy you.I recommend. Quiet place, very hearty breakfast. Quite large room. comfortable bed, decent bathroom. To be done again. Nanou.
