Libelula Love

Libelula is a wonderful, comfortable and special place where you can really feel the energy of Tulum’s natural surroundings. It’s a hotel that makes me feel right at home. During my stay, I really enjoyed the surroundings – I even spotted some huge turtles at night!! A unique experience! The rooms are extremely comfortable and give you a sense of luxury whilst being immersed in the jungle. The food is exquisite, made with the finest fresh local products – Mexican cuisine with a gourmet twist that you simply must try. The staff are very helpful and friendly. It’s the best way to experience the real Tulum, waking up to the sun rising over the sea. Thank you for making this a truly memorable experience!

Dreamy but unfortunately bed bug alert

Resort, beach, food, view a dream… Buuuuuuut- we had bed bugs in the room which turned our trip into a nightmare from day 1. Staff was more or less trying to "fix the problem".. Employee came into the room with a mask and suit, said we could stay calm, he just had a cold and was cleaning now...
Bedbugs bit us until we departed.
Truly a horror!

It is not glamping; it is forced consumption.

It is not glamping; it is a beach club with accommodation; perhaps it was my mistake not to see it, but IT IS NOT FOR NATIONAL TOURISM.
Forced consumption at the restaurant within the property.
They do not allow bringing food, and personal drinks can ONLY be consumed inside the room; if you take them outside, even being practically the only guests, they told me they would charge me a corkage fee. Additionally, the beach was full of seaweed, so we could not enjoy it either, and still, they had no flexibility.
The food at the restaurant is tasty, but expensive and with small portions. A ceviche costs around $390 or $400 pesos, and simple drinks, like a sports drink, are around $140 pesos. The feeling is that they leave you with no options to force you to consume inside the hotel.
At the time of checkout, they tried to charge us again a fee that we had already paid since the reservation. They also insisted on the 15% service charge, even though we only consumed a ceviche and a drink; when we said no, they looked at us badly, and the magic of service vanished. To top it off, when we started to take our things to the car, they ran after us as if we were leaving without paying, which was very uncomfortable.
In summary: expensive food, unclear charges, and an attitude that makes you feel out of place. The place is beautiful, but the experience does not feel hospitable; if you are not there to pay thousands of pesos, it is better not to go.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT FOR NATIONAL TOURISM, OR IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR GLAMPING, IT IS NOT; IT IS A HOTEL WITH FORCED CONSUMPTION INSIDE THE FACILITIES.

Incredible, world-class service, excellent food and overall high vibes makes Libelula one of my personal favorite destinations in Tulum in my 10+ years of visiting.

Favorite Place to Stay in Tulum

Libelula was absolutely everything I had hoped for. The remote location is the absolute best. When you want to go out and connect with Tulum you can do so any time, but when inside Libelula you are in a cocoon of total relaxation.The beach front is lovely. We lay on the comfortable beds and enjoyed the ocean. The staff weren’t just great, they were cool people that you will miss when you leave. The cocktails Armando made were hands down the best in Tulum - he is an artisinal mixologist. George who runs the day to day operations was fantastic as well and created a welcoming and lovely experience right from the beginning. The dinners and breakfasts we had were excellent. Now onto the room. We had a room on the second floor overlooking to ocean and it was absolutely perfect. The bedding, the shower pressure and warmth - perfect. The constant breeze and the sound of the ocean all night were just magical. We split our stay with another hotel on the north side to have that experience, and the minute we arrived I missed Libelula and wanted to come back. While we love hanging out where we are ( enjoying the closeness to La veleta) the two hotels both on the beach don’t compare by a long shot. There is just something about the energy of Libelula that feels like home. .

You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly using the contact details in your confirmation. Guests are required to show a photo ID and credit card upon check-in. Please note that all Special Requests are subject to availability and additional charges may apply. Guests under the age of 18 can only check in with a parent or official guardian. In the event of an early departure, the property will charge you the full amount for your stay. A damage deposit of USD 300 is required on arrival. This will be collected by credit card. You should be reimbursed within 7 days of check-out. Your deposit will be refunded in full via credit card, subject to an inspection of the property. Service dogs and emotional support dogs are permitted only upon prior request and confirmation of hotel availability, exclusively during our pet-friendly season from June to October. One dog per room, with a maximum weight of 8 kg. A mandatory fee of 2,500 pesos per stay (up to 5 days) applies. If the dog is trained, hygiene protocols and the original vaccination certificate must be provided. Dogs must not be left alone or unattended at any time. An additional security deposit of 6,000 pesos will be required. Other pets are not permitted.
