To be closer to the rail trail highlights, you'd need to be camping.

Great Breakaway.
Service was great and the Accomodation was completely to our satisfaction.
The management was also very professional and very friendly.
Personally met up with Eugene (Owner) who was very friendly.
We used the spa's and the BBQ'S which were great.
Also did some of the walks, and went through the tunnel.
Were also advised that one can fish for trout in the area.
Bicycle's are also available should you wish to go cycling.
They are in the process of building a large deck, which is going to house the spa's and BBQ where one can sit around a fire.
Really a place to go to relax.
Price is very cheap for what you get.
Would highly recommend for a stay, and hopefully will be returning in the future.
Well worth it.

Great Accommodation in a Great Location for Activities in the Gorge
We used the spa pool. It was lovely sitting in the misty rain looking at the mountains. We had our own kitchen facilities, but the main shared kitchen and lounge areas I could see worked well for guests.
We have done the rail tunnel loop many times before - it is great. This time, we did the Windows Walk and then walked further along the Crown Track to the waterhole. Lots of people were swimming.
We continued on through the long tunnel to the Dickey Flat campsite, where we stopped, had a snack, and headed back.
I would recommend the walks. I think it took us about 3.5 hours return at a reasonable pace. It was a little wet, so we did not stop for long. You definitely need a torch for the long tunnel past the waterhole before Dickeys Flat. It would be helpful to have a torch for the Windows Walk tunnel - but not necessarily crucial. You could use your cellphone app. The glow worms are cool, so do pause and turn your lights off and look up!
